Representatives from our company recently attended the LeadingRE Annual Conference 2018. A number of inspiring speakers gave talks, and I just thought I’d share some of the more interesting points. I hope you’ll enjoy!

Communication via email/text isn’t always best

Old ways of doing things are coming back into style – sometimes, they are more effective. We should all start picking up the phone more often!

Scientific research shows emailing isn’t always productive, and often causes miscommunication. Email/text messaging can be often distracting, and if done in a rush can also lead to one seeming less intelligent or lazy.

Our voice also humanizes us.

By some estimates, empathy has dropped by 40% in the past 30 years but mostly since 2000, due to technology.

The Power of Smiling

A smile uses 12 of 44 facial muscles.

A frown uses only 10 of 44 facial muscles.

We live longer by smiling, and smiling is contagious 50% of the time!

So remember to smile, and have conversations eye to eye (or at least ear to ear) if you can help it.

And let me know if I can ever help by having a conversation ear to ear, or eye to eye!

Best,

Connie
