When considering whom to hire to sell your home, it’s tempting to assume that lawn signs are indicative of how many buyers a company has, and how many buyers might see your own home.

However, while a lawn sign might imply a certain person or company is dominating the market, you must consider who actually represented the buyers. A lawn sign doesn’t mean that company had the buyers for that house. In fact, a lawn sign typically means that company represented the seller.

So I wanted to see what the numbers would show – which companies actually represented the greatest number of buyers this year? I did some digging in the MLS (as I often do), and decided to look at Beverly Hills Post Office (90210).

The stats may surprise you!

Homes sold in Beverly Hills Post Office, year to date (Jan 1 – Oct 10, 2017)
Ranked by the number of buyers represented by each agency
  1. Coldwell Banker: represented buyers for 17 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  2. Hilton & Hyland: represented buyers for 16 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  3. Douglas Elliman: represented buyers for 10 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  4. Rodeo Realty: represented buyers for 8 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  5. The Agency: represented buyers for 8 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  6. Keller Williams: represented buyers for 7 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  7. Sotheby’s: represented buyers for 6 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  8. Nourmand & Associates: represented buyers for 5 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  9. John Aaroe: represented buyers for 4 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  10. Berkshire Hathaway: represented buyers for 4 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  11. Re/Max: represented buyers for 2 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  12. Berkshire Hathaway: represented buyers for 2 homes sold YTD in BHPO
  13. Nelson Shelton, Compass, Redfin, Gibson, and 360 Realty each represented only 1 buyer for homes sold YTD in BHPO

Interestingly, another 25 buyers for homes sold YTD in BHPO were represented by lesser-known, often independent firms, selling more homes collectively than any single one of the better-known firms.

(Keep in mind some of the sales had 2 companies representing the buyer.)
